It's easy to focus on what you're missing. I, for example, am in Semporna, within 40 minutes of the last remaining “Sea Gypsies”, who have lived in boats, without going to land, for nearly a thousand years, and I’ve been unable to get to them and to see and share what they are like because it would cost about $200 to hire the experienced boatman, boat and fuel to get there, which I lack.

But public facing about what one lacks is not just silly because it amplifies one’s internal focus on it, but also wrong, because it misdiagnoses Life, God, Oneself, and Human Beings in general.

Many of the ways in which I am fortunate are probably obvious and besides, talking about them would feel like bragging - something I don't mind doing at the appropriate times, but right now I’d like to focus on a different facet of my fortunateness.

I do have friends who like and support me.

And it's my honor and privilege to praise and thank them publicly.

If you’ve spent even a single hour with me or my material you already know this, but for the sake of the public record I want to say that of course their friendship and support doesn't mean that they necessarily would have written and said everything that I’ve written and said. Obviously, I myself only write and speak the moment that I’m doing so. It's unfortunate that words have permanence - plainly not Nature or God’s preference - but once they do, I’m glad to supply a record, as while of course everything I ever think or say is tentative and subject to change, I don't regret and I’m not ashamed of anything I have thought, said, written, or done, as they were all genuine and publicly transparent at the time.

Three of the following people are actively involved in daily pro-Israel activities. Another person is overwhelmed with mercy for the Palestinians.

Some of these people are Orthodox Jews who publicly state their belief in a young Earth, others are Christian, Jewish, Agnostic, or have other beliefs that are less easy to categorize.

What they all definitely have in common is an opposition to leaving me exposed to hunger and the elements. What I’m pretty sure they all have in common is a desire to ensure that my own personal uniqueness remains active, known, and an opportunity for mankind to consider ideas beyond those that have billions of dollars worth of special interest behind them. My own tragic lack of guile and salesmanship is humanity’s gain. In a world where a single more-or-less democratically elected individual can set the rules for how entire nations run, even at the cost of countless lives, it's good to sustain those rare birds incapable of succumbing to following the leader. 2

Of course they also like me, as I like them. Kindness and admiration are cool, but friendship is divine.

He is sui generis. The levels of Torah knowledge and Torah practice that he lives by are not, to my knowledge, matched in the world. Since the very first Shabbat of his marriage, Rabbi and Rebbetzin Machlis have hosted guests. Every single Shabbat and holiday since (and nearly every weekday as well) his home has been filled with guests. He is known as a paragon of kindness - because that can not be hidden - but, because he can hide it, few know that there is likely nobody alive today who knows more Torah than he does. If you visit Israel, I cannot recommend strongly enough that you get to know him. Only she was genuinely desirous of a better outcome for everybody which is why, after I was already off the platform, she sent me a serious donation in the hope that I may yet be able to change the game.

I mentioned in the past that I was rooting for the impossible outcome of Egypt winning the World Cup because I have so many football-fan friends who are Egyptian. I didn't love however that after their win against Australia, one of their coaches ran around with the Palestinian flag. I absolutely get it. To people not in the know (which is the whole point of genuine Hasbara) Israel looks absolutely monstrous and indefensible. And, of course, other than from yours truly, Egyptians were not being enlightened about the facts. But, nonetheless, with both sides being in the absolute wrong, I didn't enjoy watching that coach do what he did.

For that reason I only watched a few minutes of the next game they played - against Argentina - at around the 20 minute mark, when the score was 1-0 in Egypt’s favor. I mentioned to fellow Malaysian watchers that Egypt ought to win this one but that the refs won't let Argentina get knocked out by Egypt. After I learned the final score a few hours later (Argentina 3 - Egypt 2) and zero other facts about the game, I asked Google: “Are there any serious people saying that the referees cheated for Argentina?”

Look it up. Yes, there are serious people saying so. (That's an understated joke, it's not the kind of thing that anyone can deny.)

So, though Egypt had done wrong Argentina certainly had as well, and recompense was necessary (Genesis 15:14 & Mishna Avot 2:6). And Argentina was going to be up against Spain! Not being a soccer fiend, I hadn't even known that Spain was in serious consideration for the win. But I know that they took soccer seriously…

I lived in Spain for nearly 3 years, and thanks to the friendship and hospitality of Pedro and Paulina in the coastal town of Cabo de Gata I spent many an evening watching them hoot and holler as we all enjoyed Moroccan hashish and watched this or that local Spanish team. In fact, I probably watched more Spaniards play football, on tv and live, than people of any other nationality. So I’m glad that my many friends, chief among them Pedro and Paulina, are celebrating tonight!

If you visit Spain, I highly recommend staying with them. Cabo de Gata is an amazing place, home to the most beautiful variety of beach stones I’ve ever seen.

Knowing his persona I tried to get to the bottom of the bubble wand business.

One thing that's important to make clear is that Lindsey was not compromised. There was nothing in that man to compromise. Blackmail and bribery were simply the ways for his owners to identify themselves. Owners he had been waiting for since he was a little boy.

As for his grieving sister being granted the Senate seat, this is common. Usually it's a spouse, but whenever there are skeletons to be buried during the duration of a deceased elected official's term, the seat is given to the only people who have a personal stake in ensuring that it gets done.

Of all the wonderful congresscritters with whom we are all blessed, Lindsey was the most publicly transparent figure of fun.

It may be hard to see because nearly all public figures, on every side of every issue are heartless self-seekers whose charitable thoughts are entirely built upon the vilification of other demographics, but it's still true. Measure them out. Weigh them and measure them as God Almighty would, and you’ll find that “our” friends are actually, proven and practiced, worse people than those on the other - also reprehensible - side.

And in all of this there is no room for someone who speaks differently.

A flood, a massive flood to wash away the world so that a new world can emerge, is the only humane option. It isn't one that humans can willfully take, but it's one that Divine - or Consequence - can catalyze.

Consequence perpetually victimizes Jews so that the world has wise and eloquent spokesmen for God’s design. This is one of those many historical moments when Jews are in the driver’s seat and have the opportunity to lead towards that biblically promised world when tears are wiped from the faces of all men and women everywhere.

Instead, like every time before, we are blowing it - the results of which are better historically documented than any other Cause ➡️ Effect on Earth.

100 years ago, today, HL Mencken celebrated the 150th anniversary of America’s Independence with a work entitled, “Notes on Democracy”.

It's an extraordinary time capsule of what things were like in the United States and the world exactly 100 years ago, and his critique of the democratic ideal and its adherents remains powerful and, at least in some degree, persuasive.

He points out that, of course, nobody in America’s democracy ever votes for anything, only against some other thing.

He regards Democracy as a Christian and Humanistic ideal that, once tried, had proven itself to have been just wishful thinking all along.

His chief view of the electorate is of a populace incapable and uninterested in ideas or justice, wholly given over to the most basic of mammalian fears and lusts.

And he regards the most successful politicians in a democracy as no more than mob psychologists gifted with a lack of shame.

Though I’m definitely an admirer of the great HL Mencken, he was himself too often given over to critique, an endeavor all too easy when you carry no requirement to propose an alternative.

Therefore, while all that he says is sensible, and perhaps even true, I’m not endorsing his view — simply reading it.

I read the first quarter of the audio book for paid-subscribers below. This being Mencken, I recommend listening at a reduced speed as the man thinks quickly and packs a lot into each brilliantly crafted sentence.

This is a remarkably high-signal list of readers.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was a genuine Man of God.

Such people tend to be torn down by lesser sapiens, uncomfortable with the fact that one can be a Man of God, which is why he is no longer respected anywhere outside of public school’s fifth grade Social Studies textbook.

He has been torn down in India and the West for entirely different reasons which (as with antisemitism, and other oft-explained biases) gives the lie to the solid reasons provided for Gandhi-hate. The actual reasons, along with the excuses for why he has been torn down in India can be found by searching “gandhi” in the archives. Those reasons have no purchase in the West, so our great lights have gone with… can you guess? Of course you can! Racism and pedophilia.

On racism, it appears that his earliest activism in South Africa was on behalf of his fellow civilized Indians, with small concern for the local black population. The pedo thing is much more interesting, though if you're hoping for titillation, I’m afraid you’ll need to look elsewhere.

The short of it is that at the end of his life, as a very old man, he slept and bathed in the nude with his great nieces, who were 15 or 16 years old. Old enough to copulate and marry in every country in the world in his day, and in most countries today, including in most of the United States but, scandalously, he neither married them nor had sex with them.

With their permission - he had close intimate contact with them, long after his wife died, so that he would have the physical desire, possibility, and natural mammalian excitement of being able to sleep with them, which, refraining from doing so, he hoped would give him the manly strength to be able to influence the world in a way that he felt that he had lost - as evidenced by his inability to stop either World War 2, or the Hindu/Muslim Civil War that accompanied India’s partition.

The science of the matter is interesting.

The fact that he felt personally responsible for failing to stop global genocides is interesting also.

But to me the interesting matters are how and why we know this about Gandhi.

How: We know this because Gandhi announced it from the pulpit long in advance of his engaging in this “experiment with truth” relating to brahmacharya. Yup. Unlike every other sex scandal from the beginning of time until today, Gandhi was not an anti-homosexuality congressman found to sneak under toilet stalls at airports, nor youtube pedo-hunter found to have slept with and killed a prepubescent, or even yet the pastor found to have a secret family after a decade of sicking Satan upon the adulterators the Holy Spirit informed him were to be found among the less naive of his congregants. Gandhi thought it all through, tried to cleanse his heart, mind, and soul of dishonest motivations, and announced the whole business to the world, requesting comment on advance of his experiment.

He received comments. But none of them addressed anything he considered valuable. Nehru, along with numerous other politicians, begged him not to go through with it for the sake of his reputation, for Lo, he foresaw a giant Las Vegas comedian in the 21st century creating a show called Bullshit which would ruin Gandhi’s reputation by revealing this episode in Gandhi’s life, and then what good would come from Gandhi's many decades worth of lived examples which otherwise would undoubtedly have wildly influenced the American public?

But seriously. What benefit was there to Gandhi announcing this business in advance? In other words, being as he believed in his quite final decision, Why announce it, instead of just doing it?

The answer is not of course that he thought that he could convince Nehru, Penn Jillette, or some American teenager with a manga girlfriend. It was because he lived his life with candor - and because he knew that one day there would be a Moshe Rudner who, had this been a discovered fact, rather than just a pre-announced weird one, I and people like me, would have regarded him as a phony and would have been unable to regard him as he actually was, a Genuine Man of God.

The Torah appears to most honest observers as a wildly contradictory document. In fact, the vast vast vast majority of Jewish religious studies over at least the past 1600 years has been obsessed with dealing with these contradictions.

The Torah says not to marry 2 sisters, yet Jacob did exactly that (unless you think that Bilha and Zilpa were both also sisters of Rachel and Leah, in which case he married 4 sisters, etc, etc, for thousands of examples.

The truth is that the Jews and Judaism are the world's historiographers. We have the pure example of Eden, and ever since we have been recording mankind's numerous follies as we drifted farther and farther away from Eden. We are leaving markers along the way so that we can trace our way back.

Along the way however we must remain alive, and doing so requires playing by the rules in operation - rather than the rules of Eden.

Adam and Chava were nude, and God is everywhere. But in a clothed, sexualized, and material world, we require a temple for God and an altar, and an altar with a low-incline and no steps, so that the high priest’s reproductive organs are never seen as he ascends the altar in God's House.

In the Torah's Eden, Man does not eat flesh, and he certainly does not kill anybody. After the agriculturist Cain murders the shepherd Abel, God says that anyone who would kill Cain for it shall have committed a sin sevenfold as evil as what the murderer Cain did. And before God destroys the inhospitable people of Sodom and its 4 allied cities he discusses the matter with the hospitable Abraham - the man on whose land the residents of those cities are squatting, because Abraham has the right to argue on their behalf until he sees that their destruction is absolutely necessary.

And yet, as opposed to technology as the Torah is, going so far as to never mention the written word during a lengthy chronology and locations where writing already existed, the Torah violates every one of its clear preference to record the divine decision to genocide the entire nation of Amalek no matter how many innocent generations may pass from that day.

Yes, the first mention of writing in the Bible is God telling Moshe to write down for all time (specifically mentioning Moshe’s successor Yehoshua as needing to carry this onwards) that the nation of Amalek would be wiped out from under the heavens, and that this fact must never be forgotten, over how many generations it be necessary, until it is done.

The Torah provides instructions for each generation and each situation. So long as we are not in Eden we are living in a complicated world, one which has requirements quite different from the ideal.

A few days ago, I shared a video from Bum Bum Island, which includes a number of Bajau Laut (aka “Sea Gypsies”).

Since then I’ve been speaking with a close rabbi friend in Israel about them. For reasons I explained in a couple of videos, they are the greatest single-breath free divers in the world. A friend in Brunei boated me out to the mall and then jumped under water with a harpoon. When he finally came back up he had indeed caught a Big Fish.

My friend responded with a brief note.

I responded with an audio message that I’ll share in a moment, but the more essential message, also referenced in my audio message, is the one he sent me on Friday.

What he's referencing is a parable ascribed to Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, which Rav Noach Weinberg used to tell - the point of which I never understood until my good rabbinic buddy in Israel just connected it to Friday’s open letter regarding hypocrisy… and which I’ve been thinking about ever since. Here goes:

The astrologer tells the king that all of the coming yield of grain is tainted so that all who eat it will go mad. He advises that the current year's clean grain be saved for the king and himself so that at least they do not go mad. The king vetos the ideas as to be sane in a world full of mad men will mean living sanely in a world run on madness, leading inevitably to being destroyed. He says instead that they too will eat of the tainted grain so that they have minds like everyone else, but that they will place a mark on each other’s foreheads, so that when they see each other they will remember that they are not sane.

I knew this tale for many years but never understood it. Wouldn't it be better not to know that you're insane in a world run insanely?

But now that my friend connected it to Friday's letter, I understand it. For one, if you don't announce your intentions to bathe with your grandnieces, or include the tale of pacifistic nudity in Eden, or place the mark upon your head, you're less likely to be able to relinquish your sweet sanity as fully as necessary. More to the point, clean grain may come along and opportunities for a better world may appear. There's no hypocrisy in a vow made on God’s throne to exterminate Amalek if that's what's necessary to believe in yourself again so that you survive until you can open the eyes of humanity to the fact that we can love and care for each other as we do for ourselves, and that we want to, and that it will be great for us when we do.

Whatever it takes to get there. Whatever seeming hypocrisy, or openness to critique, or Grand Evil is necessary in this mad mad mad world to survive and thrive until such a time as sanity and goodness becomes safe — is righteous, regardless of whether anybody else understands it.

Just make sure that you make a note for yourself - and for anyone else who may be pure of heart in the future to look back and understand why you changed how you lived and spoke - so that you can bear to see the truths you’ve spoken twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, knowing that, though knave and fool you may need to become, the truth remains available and pure when the world allows for it to be safely lived and spoken. Amen.

I only hope it isn't too late to start eating the maddening grain. And may the Golden Calf, and her worshippers, accept me.

Anyone who has ever lived anywhere other than the United States, and who isn't paid to believe otherwise, knows that the wide proliferation of firearms in the United States is a special kind of madness that can't help but result in precisely what it results in - an enormous amount of extra death.

Not only because so many kerfuffles and vengeances turn deadly, and not only because so many people with no ability to kill via other means can easily do so via hammer and pin, and not only thanks to multiple accidental deaths via firearms every day, but because every encounter with law enforcement presupposes the possession of firearms, and because of a dozen other factors too varied to list.

It is still the case that The Second Amendment is responsible for the fact that we do not all reside in tyranny today. (Not even a president who openly wishes we did.)

America is the de-facto global trendsetter. Americans started Covidmania (not the actual virus, which was a joint effort by rogue individuals within various governments) due to the need to view everything under Trump 45 as catastrophic for classist reasons (which resulted, of course, in Trump 47) and it was America that ended Covidmania, thanks to the fact that (by suspending Covidmania for BLM protests) the political element was laid bare and half of the country - the armed half - saw their pride in resisting the panic, rather than in continuing to succumb to it.

The Second Amendment is demonstrably there to protect The First.

The First Amendment is intended to obviate the need for any usage of The Second. But, rather than rely on the largesse of judges and legislators behind Zoom cameras, The Second Amendment was enshrined into our Constitution.

The Second Amendment has resulted in a tremendous amount of death. No first world country is remotely as dangerous as the United States, but so long as The First Amendment remains aspirational rather than active the collective cultural subconscious of the American People will never allow it to be impinged upon, limited, or simply ignored in favor of not believing that it's sane to carry around an instant death-dealing device at all times.

The First Amendment reads:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

None of this has ever been the case. If you define religion as “something run by the pontiff” then sure, I guess it has. But if you understand that legislating tens of thousands of feelz into the law books is absolutely religious, then you will understand that Congress has most certainly passed laws, written - in all instances - by special interests, regarding the establishment of religion.

Beyond that it's trivial to point out that Americans have never had the opportunity to hear and engage with all genuine speakers and points of view freely. I imagine that even High Schoolers know this, never mind fully grown adults.

But during Covidpocalypse TPTB cooked the lobster a tad too quickly. Worse yet, Americans, freshly freed from their individual enslavements were locked at home with nothing to do but to learn stuff, like what was going on all over the world around them.

Australian drones tracking joggers, Chinese forced imprisonments, and all that went on even at home in the United States… got around.

Americans understood what Nina Jankowicz was going to do as Disinformation Czar. They understood too what was being said by Gavin Newsom when he had a lone paddleboarder arrested on the high seas. They knew what it meant when American companies simultaneously de-banked every Canadian Trucker who dared assemble in the capital. They felt the smothering hand of Twitter's Yoel Roth, and they lived through the “get jabbed even if you’ve already had Covid, so there's no control group around to scientifically demonstrate the effects of our ass-covering excuse for having stopped the world, now that we would really like to get capitalism started up again before humanity notices that Universal Basic Income would be easily implementable.”

Ignoring the fact that a specific (somehow Covidly-sainted!) American, and internecine elite-class political clawing created The Great Panic, it's plainly obvious that all of the restrictions were intended to continue for ever, and that one of the main reasons why they could not was because the temporal ruling class grabbed too much, too quickly, and the armed American populace wouldn't go for it.

You know the solution to all this already. I’ve been saying it since Day 1: An honest, good-willed, adult conversation about all the things.

You are reading me because you are highly intelligent. Perhaps 30,000 people subscribed at some point or other, but the 3,000 or so regular readers can be safely estimated to have stratospheric IQs. Most of you have Wikipedia pages!

So it's obviously not an accident that you are a high IQ individual reading me.

And yet, I am reporting to you with total and absolute candor that everything I talk about here, not discounting matters relating to religion, relationships, monetary policy and Maimonides, I discuss with thousands of individuals from all walks of life around the globe and they too are capable of reason, intelligence, good will, introspection, and honesty.

The fault, and consequences, of our ancient toxic culture is experienced all around us. Always!

I am not here to get Israel and Iran to sign a peace treaty so that they can open embassies in each other capitalism capitals, thus allowing the wealthy and lucky from here and from there to enjoy each other's foods and music.

I have never yet lived in a non-monotheistic country so I can't honestly speak to non-monotheistic beliefs and their effects.

Judaism - and by extention the religions of Christianity and Islam, which sought to simplify its message - is beautiful.

It tells us that we all have One Father and that we are all in this together, and essentially brothers. It suggests we adapt to a way of being that will benefit each and every one of us by caring about each other. The prime directive being to look out for each other to the same extent that we look out for ourselves.

And it is true.

There isn't a human alive who would not benefit from such a world. No matter how high you are on the totem pole, you would have a better life if everybody else was looking out for you.

Unfortunately we live in a world run by Satan.

There are no magical incantations or holy dances that can rid us of Satan’s rule. He exists in our hearts and in our institutions. There is no physical being to conquer. Our enemy lies within.

In such a world, there is nothing that any of us can do to benefit from the promise of universal brotherhood. All that an individual can do is to ignore the promise of delight that remains beyond the reach of humanity’s imagination, and to selfishly look out for themselves. God did not stop the holocaust and God will not stop the next one. We have the innate capabilities to bring about a world where none shall ever study war any more, and until we, as a collective, do so, suffering will continue.

Hypocrisy is a hit man who donates 50% of his earnings to keep the village saint alive. And he is holy for doing so.

For in our world, why not be a hit man? What ethics do you see around you indicating that being a hit man is unhelpful, or more evil than any other line of work?

What he's doing however is ensuring that - when the opportunity arises - the saint is still alive as a guide for the newly awakened humanity.

I can not convincingly explain to you why it has been impossible for me to make a living these past 50 years. The words are there, and the science is clear, but you aren't likely to get it. It's the kind of thing you just have to take on faith - and on the logic that nobody chooses to be impoverished if they can help it.

Now I don't know whether I would have the moral beauty to be a hypocrite if I were financially capable. The odds are that I would, as even in my lifelong impoverishment I’ve been consistently kind and helpful to people in need. In fact, as a child, before I knew that I was impoverished I would give my surplus money (which, as a child, meant “my money”) to people who begged for money. But, as an adult, living for myself and my family, with a business, employees, and cleaning ladies, would I have the moral presence and honesty to be a hypocrite by sustaining the life of the outcast who kept the Word of God alive so that such ideals would be available to an eventual world willing to learn and live and by them?

I don't know. After all, his ideals condemn me.

What's key, I think, is that my ideals condemn you. I do not.

I support you getting yours in a world filled with human rats in a pile all clawing their way upwards to get theirs. To do otherwise would render you as powerless as I am, and what good is that?

In effect, there is no hypocrisy in supporting me.

By supporting me you are saying, “I know the world is inequitable, and that I’m choosing to play by the rules that work rather than by the rules that don't, but I would still like an honest representative of humanity to remain alive so that one day, when humanity wakes up, he is still alive to share what he knows.”

I’m tempted of course to speak to people like myself, who don't really get supporting sports teams, especially these days when players don't tend to even hail from any particular city, but I’ll try to resist, and to speak instead to genuine sports fans, as I myself can't help but be inundated by World Cup fandom in my current locale.

The team I’m rooting for is Egypt, because all of my closest football fanatic friends, whom I would otherwise be sitting among and shouting with, are in Egypt and most definitely want Egypt to continue going farther on the global sports stage than they ever have before.

It's only due to some positively dreadful people that I am not in Egypt right now. And those people are not Egyptian, but 2 Israeli near-billionaires, one from the US and one from the UK. They figured that getting me killed by Egyptian police in Alexandria would disprove what my daily life was proving - that a proud Jewish Rabbi who loves Israel could befriend Arab Muslims, including Gazans, thus proving that the Middle East Conflict could be resolved through my mediation, rather than through their money, bombs, and blackmail.

So while I am not in Egypt, and Egypt’s odds of winning are so low that they don't even register on the betting markets, I will absolutely be cheering for Egypt, in distant communion with my Egyptian buddies surreptitiously drinking beer, and un-surreptitiously making a whole lot of noise during the coming game.

Basketball, designed in North America to be a game entirely dependent upon practiced skill rather than genetic determinants, has, of course since been turned into a game for monsters. If you are 7” tall and not in prison you will play professional basketball. Soccer however, alone among the world sports, remains a game where a tiny man can be the literal Greatest Player Of All Time.

Also, in 2014 one of my closest friends was living in Rio de Janeiro, and invited me to join him. Explaining to another friend that I lacked the funds to do so, he pledged $200 if I could get the additional $3300 I needed for a rushed passport, visa, and plane ticket.

I wanted to see my buddy who was studying abroad but had no care whatsoever for soccer so - as a total joke - I campaigned for the funds.

My slogan was literally, “I’m trying to raise 3500 so I can go to Brazil to sneak in to the final game of the World Cup because I know and care nothing for soccer.” And I guess because it was a total joke, rather than an earnest plea, folk were happy to give!

So I did get my passport, visa, and plane ticket. And I did sneak into the final game in Maracanã where, of course, I was rooting for Argentina over Germany.

Not only because the grandson of 4 Holocaust survivors might have some petty grievance against Germany (though I did, and indeed sang aloud, ”Deutschland, Deutschland unter alles, unter alles in der Welt!”), but because the stadium was filled to the brim with Germans capable of affording scalped €25,000 tickets, and hardly any of the Argentinians I had been getting along with so well all along the miles of Copacabana beach where they’d set up shop to watch the games in their tens of thousands on giant screen projectors.

Furthermore, Germany had beaten the living **** out of Brazil (6:0) and I could not countenance the fact that Brazilians were all rooting for Germany rather than for their neighbor Argentina!

All politics is local.

And, obviously, I’m root-root-rooting for my Hometeam USA.

Beyond those, I tend to prefer the team that cheats less, by which I mean the team that more honestly represents their home country's population.

Those teams do not tend to win, but with DR Congo’s team filled with Congolese about to lose to England whose team on the field has hardly any players who actually hail from that wet rock, it's hard to root for England, though, as an English speaker, I would very much like to!

I lived in Portugal for 6 months so I would have also liked to have been able to root for the team that was obviously going to win (the refs sure do love Ronaldo! 😂) when they were fighting Uzbekistan, which a quick glance confirmed had a team comprised of actual Uzbeks.

But the big one is Egypt. I only wish AI turned up even a single Egyptian in my current coastal outpost.
