Australia Restricts Social Media to Ages 16+

No doubt the country that engaged in the most punishing Lockdown a few years ago has Think Of The Children! as its mommy-state motivation here, but even the worst of ideological motivations end up hitting the target every once in a while.

For one, Think Of The Children! ideology is not - in and of itself - a terrible motivation.

The fact that such scaremongering usually causes far more harm than good doesn't mean that it always will. Social media in its present form is indeed such a great evil that it's proper and wise to at least protect children from its effects.

The only question in this regard is whether they are providing the kids anything else to do — otherwise this ban will be either meaningless or will just funnel kids into other screen-sucking activities to deal with the emptiness of life on offer to the denizens of Earth in this, our current, beatific year.
