On "Dear Antisemites"
Our recent video “Dear Jew Haters” was well received and received many excellent comments.
I responded to a few within the comment thread but ought to give them more publicity, so please check them out and comment there.
Here is the most recent one.
The commentator makes an excellent point, unfortunately the Law of the Jungle still rules our emotions.
Take Adolf Hitler for example.
In a thousand and one ways he was a great leader. I don't oppose his method of One Man Government and I admire his strive towards human achievement.
But the fact is that for every demented such Hutler there are 10,000 would-be leaders with similar inclinations and skills who never got the chance because what captures human attention and passion faster than anything else is Hatred.
Hitler became the leader of Germany not *despite* his sickening hatreds and love of mass murder but *because* of them.
I receive many comments of support from people who think that I have a side *against* some group, and I receive tenfold as many antagonistic comments for the same reason.
People assume I am perpetually *against* this group of people or the other. Some believe I am against Jews, others believe I am against Muslims, yet others believe I am against the Wealthy, etc, etc.
I am not.
As a temporary measure we may have to compete against some demographic or other but in truth mein struggle is against The Prevailing System that views us all in an eternal competition where one person must suffer for another to benefit.
My light in this regard is Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. Did he cause rhe British trouble by boycotting their goods and declaring nationwide strikes? Absolutely. Did he hate them? Absolutely not.
And he certainly did nit desire to "see them crushed under our feet".
He, however, was assassinated. Adolf Hitler was not. Adolf simoly lost to his enemies in a mirror image of what he hoped to do to them. He played the game by his own rules and lost, but until he did, his people loved and supported him.
I believe it's important for us all to publicly admit our inborn and inherited beliefs and desires. I am no fan of lying or of prettifying the truth. Let men and women explain openly their desires bis a vis the other gender. Let Muslims and Christians do so Let the moneyed and the non-moneyed do so.
Were I to choose a team to support (which really means another team to oppose) I would undoubtedly be a big swinging dick in the public conversation today but I'm trying to move humanity towards a recognition that we are all better off caring about each other in a state of brotherhood.
"Love thy neighbor as thyself" is oft misunderstood.
In this video I read and translate Maimonides' delineation of the rules we inherited that apply to this particular commandment and others of its family.
They are more in the spirit of *caring about* than emotionally "being in live with".
We are enjoined to care for each other's welfare as much as we care for our own (or, in the case of orphans, *more* than we care for our own).
The Torah of Egyptian Moses
Hi, I’m a bit overwhelmed at the moment and therefore have no idea how to write what I’m meant to write. I recorded a new video. It begins with the harshest of truths: That humane living doesn't pay nearly as well as self-worship does, and that the evidence for this fact
There are tactical exceptions. At times one must unseat the powerful. As Maimonides himself did But these are tactical temporary measures. Not a desire to watch them eternally suffer.
If only the whole world watched and understood that video where I read Maimonides succinct explanation of the requirements upon us vis a vis our neighbors the world might instantly become a better place. How to make that happen is the question.
