Speaking of Moses and the Dor Deah, here's a movie!
[NEW extensive footnote] "There's nothing quite like Being There to make it oh so real"
As I plan the next stage of my sojourn it's like I’m reading the bible for the first time. The Jews who left Egypt had such an incredibly difficult time. The Hebrew Concept of God that Moses taught the Jews before they had that momentary flash of Realization at Sinai was foreign to everything about life as they knew it that.

The Exodus from Egypt is something so crucial to understand correctly, and so easy to misunderstand terribly, that it's no surprise that movies have failed to do it justice.
However, of the various movies I've seen that seek to portray it, the surprising winner is an unknown low budget unknown film starring Ben Kingsley in the titular role.
I'm not sure why they chose to portray some aspects of the narrative differently than the bible does but being as all films on the subject have done so that unfortunate fact doesn't cost it points in the ranking. In fact, this film is less problematic on that score than the others, for what that's worth.
You can watch it in high def here (use “Server 3”) if you're comfortable using iffy websites

Or you can watch it in an eminently watchable 360p on YouTube here:
The filmmakers' portrayal of Moses and Monotheism is up for debate but they definitely took care to try and understand both Moses and Monotheism as sensitive serious subjects rather than as magical myths suffused with modern platitudes.
I think you’ll enjoy it!
