Adolf Hitler was a more honest politician than any American politician, ever.
The Germans voted for him, knowingly. And worshipped him, not like kidnapped illiterate child soldiers might worship the top rebel general, but with excellent comprehension of what they were doing.
It's why they feel so ashamed today.
Shame is the evolutionarily advantageous emotion to demonstrate after you've just been bested by those you just tried to kill.
Like all emotions and inclinations, shame has its place.
Starting and then losing the first truly World War with the only inherently-logical goal of the extermination or enslavement of the rest of mankind is a wise place to spend it.
Shame they have, only because they lost.
They did not turn from being a generation of proud and cruel world conquerors into a generation of bleeding heart empathy between 1942 and 1945 because they'd thoughts things over, wondered about the skulls on their caps and asked themselves, “are we the baddies”?
Hitler was really obvious about where he was going with this. He didn't announce his candidacy two weeks before the primaries, nor did he hide from the spotlight, behave nicely, or have any reticence about distributing his sentiments via every means of communication in existence.
He was an honest man, and he was honestly chosen.

There hasn't been anything like it since.
It's hard to know the degree that ‘Everybody Was Hitler’ in ancient times, except to know for certain that none of them were.
Other than the Torah's demand for it, we would have a hard time scanning the history books confident that we'd find full-blown societies where the ritualized animal torture described in the following video would have served any good or changed any ways. Besides, how many “permanent valleys” exist in a country?
But of course written history is no more accurately descriptive of normal human conduct in the past, than hour-by-hour news stories culled from around the globe indicate that murder and mayhem are the regular experiences of most people today.
