#8 Seems odd to place above 9 & 10 but he actually was an incredibly important person in his day. It's disputed whether we have contemporary records of him outside of the Gentile Bible but he remained well known and important enough to be listed as a Muslim prophet as well as the most important primary prophet of the Mandaeans, a tiny religious group that survived nearly 2,000 just to fall apart during Bush’s ill conceived Operation Iraqi Freedom 15 years ago. A few thousand still remain, scattered and secretive throughout the Middle East and around the world.
#6 - This one delights me.
Most languages have a difficult time referring to a person or people without genderizing the individual.
Traditionally men and women didn't speak with each other outside of the home and behind their personal relations. To this day there are a few small languages around the world spoken only by members of one sex or another (the remnant of which custom is the most likely reason for the genderification that remains in most languages today).
“Adam”, literally means Earthling (or Earth god) and refers to an individual Earthling, irrespective of his/her gender.
Despite this being stated as clearly as possible in the Bible, it's generally unknown.
Literally:
“He blessed them and called them Adam the day he created them.”
