Winning
Despite 90% of men and 50% of women taking an active opinionated interest in world politics and events, only a miniscule number of individuals have any power at all to ever actually influence… anything at all.
In my 20s everyone assumed I would become one of those people. When I didn't, I let go of my emotional investments in all of the perpetually-discussed matters that I, rationally-speaking, could never change.
A few years ago, God invited me to care again.
The show-and-tell videos in the following piece will have to suffice for what I mean by God, for even were you to take a week to read everything I wrote and to watch everything I showed, and to download the entirety of my mind from birth to the current date, you would only gain a small amount of greater understanding for what is, ultimately, cognitively and linguistically inexplicable. The words and miracles in these two videos will suffice for an honestly curious and unbiased person.
Since then I’ve been doing my best.
It has yet to be enough, but the positive impact on my own life has been immeasurable.
I had hitherto chosen an absurdist approach, and it was good. But my new approach, while definitely containing absurdist elements, like having the ear of global Anglo leadership without receiving a hearing, is fundamentally rewarding to my life.
I don't have to guess whether the heart and mind chosen to lead Hasbara 25 years ago is still active and effective, I know it is.
I interact intimately with people of every kind while representing essential, genuine, humanity.
After the entire city was misinformed regarding my citizenship, in a country currently undergoing a (hilarious) witch hunt regarding folk of this particular nationality, I’ve been getting a lot of questions.
Fortunately, someone who was sent to my page by that Facebook post in a private group that everyone in this city belongs to,1 found another video of mine, which was shared widely, resulting in 500 new views in an hour, and which functions perfectly any time I get this sincere and honest question face to face.
What you see here in 5 minutes is fleshed out in a more sophisticated manner over my 50 minute conversation with the Nobel Prize winning godfather of game theory. But the simple truth requires no sophistication. My conversation with Professor Aumann is an interesting historical artifact, but everything essential can be gleaned from the 5-minute video above.
So, while I am absolutely interested in having the ability to influence the world we share, by igniting a global conversation with all of the people with whom we are alive together today, there's no question that in my own globe-roving bubble I’m winning at life and having a better time than I think most people even realize is possible.
