I’m not here to represent the murderer-community with a legal challenge regarding how they're represented in the media.
I do believe that I’ve killed people without legal culpability (as have you)1 but let's stick to the sort of murderers who end up in prison.
Movies make them out to be forces of evil in human form.
This is not right.
It's understandable that to the victim and their family, the murderer is Satan Incarnate and we certainly ought to assuage the feelings of victims by publicly agreeing with them, but it's not the adult way of looking at reality and its problems…. if your interest is in actually solving those problems.
There are international religious communities with the population of New York City or larger where an avg annual murder rate that rounds down from 1 to Zero.
The man you're about to meet was on the FBI’s Most Wanted Nationwide for a string of crimes including some rather credible counts of attempted murder.
I met him by trying out my new camera in Union Square, NYC, the go-to spot for YouTube “on the street” videos.
He introduced himself and our conversation progressed.
Criminals aren't comic book villains. They're what happens in failing societies — for evident reasons, and with common sense win/win solutions.
