The Unspeakable Truth About Antisemitism Today
A simple - and stupendous - fact.
The Jewish People are human carriers of an ancient living Meme With a Mission:
To demonstrate ways of living that will inspire humankind to attain goodness not seen since the birth of civilization.
This manner of feeling and living is codified in 3 biblical words: ואהבת לרעך כמוך - Love your fellow as yourself.
In such a world worry and sadness would not exist. For in such a world nobody would be left alone to fend for themselves. We will all happily care for each other.
Joy, happiness, and pleasure are the means and the goals, but there’s an accounting mechanism built into Judaism: Antisemitism.
The distinctiveness demanded of, and forced upon, Jews ensures that so long as my tribe fails to achieve the goal given our ancestors thousands upon thousands of years ago, we will never be free from the consequences of living in a world that we have failed to enlighten.
The biblical prophets said, sang, shouted and screeched this at us over and over again.
In a world of Truth and Shalom (peace born of joyful love) not only will antisemitism vanish from the Earth, but philosemitism will be the international sentiment.
This is a prophetic promise, and no kind of religious belief is required to take it seriously. The Bible's predictive track record concerning the Jews speaks for itself. 1
In a world of falsehood and sitna (the opposite of Shalom) however, the Jews will forever remain ready targets for the ire of a disappointed world.
This has been the well documented case for thousands upon thousands of years and it remains the case on this very day.
And you know it.
The “reasons” provided by the generational Jew-killers who explode against the Children of Israel every 70 years or so are always too inaccurate - and even downright stupid - to disprove.
The facts are never on the side of antisemites’ claims, but their lack of logical eloquence is hardly the matter to consider.
Rabid dogs can not explain why they bite, and granted speech, attempting to argue them out of their canine attempts to explain themselves would prove our madness more than theirs.
The simple fact is that so long as masses of people are unhappy, antisemitism will exist.
Judaism is literally built to ensure that.
Is it fair?
It doesn't seem fair to me, but I didn't make the rules. These are ancient rules, written down and passed along unchanged for hundreds of generations, and their predictive powers are so unlike those of any other ancient document that even people (like myself) who balk at the word, have no choice but to hang their authorship upon the word we use to speak of the ineffably inexplicable - God.
See Mark Twain's article by that name in Harper's Magazine. An excerpt:
“If the statistics are right, the Jews constitute but one per cent. of the human race. It suggests a nebulous dim puff of star-dust lost in the blaze of the Milky Way. Properly the Jew ought hardly to be heard of; but he is heard of, has always been heard of. He is as prominent on the planet as any other people, and his commercial importance is extravagantly out of proportion to the smallness of his bulk. His contributions to the world's list of great names in literature, science, art, music, finance, medicine, and abstruse learning are also away out of proportion to the weakness of his numbers.
“He has made a marvellous fight in this world, in all the ages; and has done it with his hands tied behind him. He could be vain of himself, and be excused for it. The Egyptian, the Babylonian, and the Persian rose, filled the planet with sound and splendor, then faded to dream-stuff and passed away; the Greek and the Roman followed, and made a vast noise, and they are gone; other peoples have sprung up and held their torch high for a time, but it burned out, and they sit in twilight now, or have vanished.
“The Jew saw them all, beat them all, and is now what he always was, exhibiting no decadence, no infirmities of age, no weakening of his parts, no slowing of his energies, no dulling of his alert and aggressive mind. All things are mortal but the Jew; all other forces pass, but he remains. What is the secret of his immortality?”
